Join The St. Regis Doha Hotel for a week of traditional Japanese ‘Sakura’ celebrations represented through the time-honoured The St. Regis passions of community, education, fashion, food, arts and culture.
Kimono Fashion Fusion – Sunday 19 April 2015
Blending Japanese culture and Qatari couture, The St. Regis Doha, The Luxury Network and Kimono Master, Mrs Suemi Nishiwaki, present ‘The Rites of Passage’, a kimono show of traditional fashion for women across the ages. Sckali Design and Angel Line Abaya also unveil a unique collection with heavy influences from Japanese culture and couture.
Entry is free through Ground Level of St. Regis Hotel and the event will be held in the Grand Ballroom, starting at 7 pm.
Enjoy a Japanese Afternoon Tea experience and choose from a selection of Japanese teas and infusions accompanied by a profusion of traditional sweet and savory delicacies. A special Tea Ceremony will take place at Sarab Lounge every afternoon only from 22 to 25 April 2015.
Back in Doha to celebrate the distinct culture of his home country, award-winning pianist, Takeshi Ohbayashi, performs with ascendant trumpeter and composer Takuya Kuroda, for two very special nights of Japanese-inspired jazz at JALC. À-la-carte and special sushi menu available from 9 pm to 1 am.
Celebrating Japanese Flavors at Astor Grill – 19 to 25 April 2015
Enjoy the flavors of the grill and the taste sensation of world-class Japanese cuisine with a delicious set menu at Astor Grill. Serving a set menu at QR 350 per person with Chef’s Choice a la carte options including Kobe Beef.
Ikebana is the traditional Japanese art of flower-arranging that has been practiced for more than 600 years. Join Hiroko Kitazume, former Doha resident and Ikebana Master, for an engaging Ikebana master class from 11:30 am to 3 pm at QR310 per person, where you will learn the art and take home your own personal arrangement. The master class will be followed by a ‘Chakai’ Japanese Tea ceremony performance and a special Japanese Afternoon Tea, all included in the price.
Sushi. Sashimi. Teriyaki. Dorayaki. The Japanese Brunch at Vine from 12:20pm to 4 pm at QR 390-490, will satisfy the most refined of palates and, with the usual brunch favourites also on offer, there’s no reason to hold back!
In this final celebration of the Japanese community and culture, Japanese School of Doha student drummers join the picnic to entertain and excite from 12:30 pm to 4 pm at QR290 per adult and QR125 for children, plus family fun with Origami!
